No matter how vain and unreal characters they may play before the camera, certain Bollywood stars have been seeking “the truth of the inner” and mental calm and tranquility through spirituality. 
Kunal Kapoor , who played a Muslim youth in Rang De Basanti , has been practicing Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s ‘Art Of Living’ for over a decade now. He has also been dabbling in martial arts like Tai Chi and Goju-Ryu karate. Kunal, who also loves reading books on philosophy and spirituality, says he has benefited a lot from Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s Sudarshan Kriya, a special breathing technique to develop awareness. “It has helped me tremendously, physically and mentally. It’s given me a sense of calm and focus and given me a new perspective toward life and myself,” a tabloid quotes Kunal as saying. Lara Dutta is another Bollywood star practicing the ‘Art of Living’ for last 6 years. And it seems Lara, too, has benefited a great deal from Sudarshan Kriya. “It’s an incredible stress-relieving technique that I have learnt. I have been into yoga for years now. But Sudarshan Kriya helps you retain your calm and be aware of everything that’s happening around,” Lara is quoted as saying. Even south Indian actress Nagma , who has also acted in a few Hindi films, has been in Art Of Living course for many years now. Akshaye Khanna , though not a student of Art of Living, is also another self-confessed spiritual seeker in Bollywood. And then there are stars like Amitabh Bachchan , Jaya Bachchan and Shilpa Shetty who are very religious people and regularly offer prayers in temples.
