Trust Ramu to make Ramesh Sippy 's all-time classic Sholay in his own unique style and interpretation. While there are no doubts that the film will indeed be made in the coming months, the maverick filmmaker promises a surprise for the movie buffs by adapting the same story into an entirely different setting. 
Moreover, the casting Ramu has chosen is equally unexpected. Amitabh Bachchan , one of the two main heroes in the 1975 original, will play the villain Gabbar Singh in Ramu's 'Sholay'. And if this was not enough, Ramu has roped in none other than Ajay Devgan , the introvert and quiet actor, to play the role of outspoken and humorous Veeru in the film. Dharmendra played the same role in Sippy's movie. Varma's blue-eyed boy Mohit Ahlawat will essay the part of stoic Jai, while Katrina Kaif will play the reticent widow Radha. Ramu still has to finalize the actress who will play Basanti in the film. The filmmaker has ruled out Mallika Sherawat for the role. The film will also have Urmila Matondkar gyrating to the song "Mehbooba Mehbooba". Urmila will make appearance for this song only. Speaking to a tabloid, Ramu said that he has a very different vision for 'Sholay'. The film will be Gabbar-centric, and therefore only Amitabh Bachchan has the pivotal role in it. The other actors, Ramu said, were dispensable. "You've to understand that my Sholay will be placed in a totally different setting... Sholay in 1975 has to be culturally and socio-economically very different from Sholay in 2006," Mid-Day quotes Ramu as saying. The film is likely to go on the floors in August and be completed by November this year.
