Hrithik says 'Krrish' will herald a new genre

Hrithik Roshan 's character in his soon-to-be-released movie Krrish is already being dubbed as "India's First Superhero".

Just a week remains for the sequel of Koi Mil Gaya to hit the theatres. And Hrithik Roshan, the movie's hero, is already excited. He has shown the film to few people from Hindi film industry and the response seems positive so far.

Both Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar have seen the film and said to have "liked it immensely". The movie went particularly well with children who were visibly elated to see the first Indian superhero on the screen.

The film has Hrithik playing Krrish, a man gifted with supernatural powers. Initially he lives in a village and falls in love with a beautiful girl ( Priyanka Chopra ) who comes there from Singapore. Later, he pursues her to Singapore where he becomes famous as a masked hero after saving lives of innocent people.

The movie's action sequences show Hrithik skidding through the air, jumping long distances with nimble ease and fighting the bad guy ( Naseeruddin Shah ) till the end.

It is for the first time that a superhero character on the lines of Spiderman or Superman will be seen in a Hindi film. And Hrithik believes the film will spark a new genre in Indian cinema.

"Before 'Krrish' this genre was almost nonexistent in India. This will almost be the birth of the genre," said Roshan.

Hrithik also says he shares a great comfort level working with his father Rakesh Roshan . Incidentally, all the solo hit movies of Hrithik have been directed by his father.

'Krrish' has been shot mostly in Singapore. The movie hits the theatres on June 23, next Friday.
