Nandita is not a full-time Bollywood actress. Save for selected films (like Aks ), the National Award winning actress has mostly acted in parallel cinema, in films by Deepa Mehta, Govind Nihalani and Shyam Benegal. She has won critical acclaim at film festivals and has also been on the jury panel at last year’s Cannes Film Festival.
Jagmohan Mundhra’s film Provoked brings together Aishwarya and Nandita for the first time. And Ash is “really glad” to have worked with Nandita.
A report quotes Ash as saying: “I’m really glad that I got to discover Nandita Das as an actor because I’m a great fan of her work.”
Nandita was the lead player in Mundhra’s previous movie Bawandar (The Sandstorm). In ‘Provoked’, however, Nandita plays a smaller part.
Apart from Nandita, Ash says she shared superb chemistry with Miranda Richardson during the shooting of ‘Provoked’.
