After getting a very positive response overseas, Deepa Mehta's controversial movie, Water , is now on its way to get released in India.
The movie had to face many controversies in year 2000 when Deepa Mehta started to work on it with Nandita Das and Shabana Azmi . The movie's sets were burned, religious groups protested and Deepa was under death threat.
Deepa now believes that 'Water' is a far stronger film than she would have been able to make in 2000. The film, set in 1930's, explains the miserable condition of widows at that time.
The film has become the highest-grossing Hindi language film in North America for 2006.
It's interesting to note that ‘Water’ will be released in India by Ravi Chopra . The movie’s main star John Abraham , who is currently working in Ravi Chopra's Babul urged Ravi to watch the movie.
After watching the movie Ravi liked it so much that he decided to market the film in India.
The censor board cleared the film with a 'U' certificate and it is scheduled to release after Diwali.
‘Water’ is different from any usual Bollywood entertainers, so it needs to be marketed accordingly.
