Although she doesn’t know much Bengali, Sameera Reddy has clinched a role in acclaimed filmmaker Buddhadeb Dasgupta’s next film.
Sameera was an important part of Dasgupta’s previous Bengali film ‘Kaalpurush’, which is now slated to win the National Award in the Best Film category. In the movie, Sameera plays a married Bengali who is passionate about going to the USA and writing about the country. Her relationship with her husband (played by Rahul Bose ) is on the rocks because of lack of intimacy.
‘Kaalpurush’ has been screened at many festivals in India and abroad. However, the film has yet to have a commercial release. Jhamu Sugandh is the movie’s producer.
Meanwhile, Dasgupta is moving on to his next project, another Bengali film, which will deal with the very relevant issue of terrorism.
And Sameera has found a place in the movie. The actress deems it an honour that Dasgupta has considered her again for his movie despite the fact that she is not well versed with Bengali language.
Sameera says she cannot reveal the movie’s plot. However, she does state that the film will be very “topical”.
The movie’s shooting will begin in October in West Bengal. Its title is yet to be announced.
