HOME | SCOOP!! & NEWS | BOLLYWOOD Bollywood takes inspiration from 9/1112th Sept 2006 19.00 IST By Nikhil Kumar The tragedy that shook the US five years ago has become the backdrop for some films in Bollywood. The world has never been the same ever since the serial terrorist attacks in the US on September 11, 2001. While Hollywood has made a number of films based on the attacks (Oliver Stone's 'World Trade Center' being the latest), Bollywood, too, has incorporated the event in its movies.
Just two months back, we saw Naseeruddin Shah raise the subject in his directorial debut Yun Hota To Kya Hota at the movie's end when the leading characters of the story become victims of 9/11 attacks. Some characters in the film take those fateful flights on the morning of September, while one character is shown inside the WTC when the plane slammed into the tower. Naseer dedicated the movie to "all the innocent people who lost their lives in the attacks". And now, filmmaker Tanuja Chandra has made a movie called Hope And A Little Sugar which is a Muslim-Sikh love story set against the backdrop of 9/11. The film stars Mahima Chaudhary , Vikram Chatwal , Anupam Kher , Suhasini Mulay and newcomer Amit Saial. The movie has been completely shot in New York. Even its producers - Glenn Russow and Scott Pardo - are based in New York. 'Hope And A Little Sugar' is slated to premiere at the South Asian International festival on October 6 this year. There are no songs in the film. Related Yun Hota To Kya Hota Hope And A Little Sugar Mahima Chaudhary Vikram Chatwal Anupam Kher |
