For Sushmita Sen, Zindagi truly Rocks

With one foot in Hollywood and another firmly established in Bollywood, Sushmita Sen has begun to enjoy the best of both worlds.

She fears no competition from her peers in Hindi film industry. She is content with the projects in her kitty. In personal life, her contentment comes from her adopted daughter. Sushmita Sen says her “zindagi truly rocks”.

Even though Sush has had a forgettable year so far (with her movie Chingari fizzling out at the box-office), the actress is eagerly looking forward to the release of her next film, Tanuja Chandra’s Zindagi Rocks in which she plays a rock singer who falls in love with a doctor, played by Shiney Ahuja .

Sush explains that the movie is not just about music and head-banging.

“It is a sensitive story that takes a look at the lives of the two lead characters,” says an ebullient Sush.

The film’s director Tanuja Chandra says Sushmita’s role in the film has “all the flamboyance and exuberance that is characteristic of her (Sush's) persona but there is also a lot of drama and intensity in it. It will give her a new high in acting.”

Sush’s excitement about the project could be gauzed at the movie’s music launch last month when she, despite a sprained neck, was in her elements.

Perhaps a part of Sush’s cheerfulness comes from the fact that she has made a foray into Hollywood as well. Her ‘Karma Confessions and Holi’, with supermodel Naomi Campbell, is likely to hit the theatres later this year. And talks are already on for another Hollywood film, this time with none other than Richard Gere.

Although the status of the film is yet uncertain, it is learnt that if things go as planned the movie, titled ‘Expat’ will have Sush playing a Pakistani expatriate and Gere playing an FBI agent.

And back in Bollywood, Sush is on the verge of clinching a plum project with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead opposite her.

We wonder, could Zindagi get more rocking than this?
