Gorgeous Rekha turns 51

Bollywood’s gorgeous diva Rekha turns 51 on October 10.

Rekha has no plans for birthday celebrations as she considers every living day “a boon”. The beautiful actress says she matured from the customary birthday rituals like cutting the cake and blowing the candles a long time ago.

The philosophically inclined Rekha says she prefers to live every single day of her life “anew” and she doesn’t care much even for festival days like Diwali, Eid or Christmas.

Rekha has come a long way in Bollywood ever since her acting debut as a plump 15-year-old girl in Saawan Badhon 35 years ago. Her acting career reached its pinnacle in the 1970s with the era of Bachchan-Rekha movies. In 1981, Rekha won the National Award for her performance in Muzaffar Ali’s Umrao Jaan.

Despite her age, Rekha’s beauty has not waned a bit and she has been acting regularly in Bollywood movies.

She played a con-woman in Bachke Rehna Re Baba (2005), a sensuous singer in Parineeta (2005) and a grandmother in Krrish (2006).

She is presently playing one of the leading ladies in the forthcoming movie called Kudiyon Ka Hai Zamaana . She is also acting in Gautam Ghosh’s much-anticipated movie Yatra .

“I think I'm at the best stage of my life and career. No matter what I do, people are responsive and, to my good fortune, appreciative,” Rekha is quoted as saying.
