Is it a mere coincidence that the talk of Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan ’s ‘marriage plans’ has started just days before the release of their movie Umrao Jaan ?
For celebrities, one downside of remaining tightlipped is that it leads to speculation. Ash and Abhi have never spoken openly about their relationship. Often they refer to each other as “good friends”. This leaves a lot of room for speculation for gossipmongers.
Earlier this year, a rumour started that Ash and Abhi’s horoscopes were shown to an astrologer and the match was not possible because she was a Manglik.
Now, just days before ‘Umrao Jaan’ is slated to hit the theatres, the latest tinsel tattle talks of Ash and Abhi’s plans to announce their wedding date in the coming days.
While Ash has denied reports of her ‘impending marriage’ with Abhi, the timing of such rumour has led to questions about it all being just a publicity stunt for ‘Umrao Jaan’.
J.P. Dutta , the movie’s director and producer, is amused at such suggestion.
He says: “It is cynical and absurd to think that this whole episode is being orchestrated to get publicity for ‘Umrao Jaan’.”
Dutta says he is “no longer affected by such loose talk.”
Meanwhile, Abhishek joined Ash and Dutta to launch a book on the making of ‘Umrao Jaan’ on Sunday in Mumbai. Abhishek was conspicuously missing in earlier promotions of the movie.
As for the marriage plans of Ash and Abhi, Ash says she just wants to focus on her acting career.
