Vying for the box-office share will be director Sangeeth Sivan’s Apna Sapna Money Money and Sooraj R. Barjatya’s comeback film Vivah . While the former is an out-and-out comedy, the latter is a love story about an engaged couple. 
Of the two films, the buzz is in favour of ‘Apna Sapna Money Money’ which not only has a huge star cast, but also a theme that is more likely to appeal to youths and masses. The film is a situational comedy about several madcap characters in a race to become rich. The movie also has two romantic tracks (between Ritesh Deshmukh and Koena Mitra and between Shreyas Talpade and Riya Sen ). And there are several wacky characters in the movie : there is a stylish don ( Jackie Shroff ), a frustrated gangster ( Chunky Pandey ), a pandit ( Anupam Kher ) smitten with a girl (Ritesh Deshmukh), a tabela owner ( Rajpal Yadav ) who wants to become like Sarkar from the film of same title. Ritesh Deshmukh promises a laugh riot in this film. He dons many guises : a sexy girl, a kathak exponent, and an old Nepali guard. In his avatar as a girl, he is also the love interest of Anupam Kher. ‘Vivah’, on the other hand, looks like a serious film about love. The film has Shahid Kapur playing a scion of a rich family who unwillingly goes to a small town to see a girl ( Amrita Rao ) for marriage. The movie shows how love sprouts and develops between two strangers in the period between their engagement and marriage. From the look of it, ‘Vivah’ carries the trademark Barjatya stamp. It has songs set amidst elaborate family gatherings. It has youthful romance and an unfortunate tragedy that tests the love of the young couple. The movie’s music sounds a bit outdated for the present times. While Sangeeth Sivan’s movie seems to have an upper hand over Barjatya’s comeback film, it is too early to predict which one will win the battle at the box-office.
