Babul is Rani Mukherjee 's first film for the B R Chopra camp which has a legacy of making family oriented films.

Speaking about the film and her role in it with a TV news channel, Rani waxed eloquent about BR Films, "It is a matter of pride for me to be associated with BR Films and work with Ravi Chopra in the film 'Babul'. Ravi uncle is one of the finest directors that we have today."

"BR Films focus on traditions and family values. Babul carries a similar message," she continued.

Rani, who has appeared with mega superstar Amitabh Bachchan in some of her more commercially successful films was equally effusive in her praise for him, "I am very fortunate to be working with uncle. He has been my most favorite actor...I think from the time that I have watched movies. I had never dreamt that I would ever get a chance to appear with him on the screen."

Acknowledging that they have a great working chemistry, Rani continued, "We connect well and are fond of each other and that impacts our screen performance. Our roles in 'Babul' mandated a good chemistry."

In 'Babul', Bachchan plays Balraj Kapoor who treats his daughter-in-law Malvika (Rani) like his own daughter. The film pivots around the extraordinary extent to which Balraj Kapoor goes to bring happiness back into the life of Malvika after the demise of his son ( Salman Khan ).

Rani is paired opposite both Salman and John Abraham in the film.

Recently, when talking with the media John had singled out Rani and stated he had learnt a lot from her during the making of the film.

When asked to comment, Rani responded, "John has been a wonderful co-star to work with. He has been very respectful and he has given his heart and soul to the character in the film."

After a string of successes ( Black , Bunty Aur Babli , Paheli , The Rising and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna ) Rani once again appears poised to win hearts by 'Babul'.

(The picture shows Rani in a still from 'Babul', which is scheduled to release on December 8, 2006).
