Bengali filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh is truly thinking out of the box.
To cast Katrina Kaif in the role of Devi Choudhrani in his cinematic adaptation of Bankimchand Chatterjee's classic book was already unusual enough. Now, Ghosh has once again thrown a surprise by signing Arjun Rampal for a significant role in the film.
Ghosh says the role Arjun plays in the movie is not so substantial in Bankimchand Chatterjee's book Devi Choudhrani. But Ghosh has developed the character and made it pivotal to the story.
While purists may raise hackles over Ghosh’s choice of actors, the talented filmmaker says Katrina and Arjun suit their roles perfectly.
Arjun was finalized for the part after a long meeting between the actor and the filmmaker in Kolkata a few weeks back.
