Celina Jaitley gets a surprising gift from a painter

A newspaper photograph of Celina Jaitley inspired Kolkata-based painter Wasim Kapoor to paint a portrait of the actress.

The painting that Kapoor has done shows Celina in a traditional outfit. She is shown wearing jewels and striking a pose like Umrao Jaan.

Although the painting could have fetched Kapoor a decent sum close to rupees ten lakhs, he rather chose to gift it to Celina.

The actress was "pleasantly surprised" when she saw the painting. According to Celina, the painting is a big compliment to her. She plans to hang it in the drawing room of her apartment.

Kapoor says Celina looked "very nawabi and traditional" in the newspaper photo that inspired him to make the painting. According to him, Celina looked better than Aishwarya Rai in the pose and attire of Umrao Jaan .

Kapoor has previously done portraits of Bollywood actresses like Hema Malini, Sri Devi, Zeenat Aman, Madhuri Dixit, Bipasha Basu and Konkona Sen Sharma.
