Come February and Berlin will sway to the magic of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan .
Reports are that SRK’s latest flick Don , produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and directed by Farhan Akhtar , has been selected in the international forum section at the Berlin Film Festival to be held next February.
The German distributors of the film held back the release of the film there as they were hopeful of it being screened at the festival.
Reports quote Sidhwani as saying, “It’s been chosen out of around 400 films that were nominated. It is a prestigious event and I am glad that our German distributor had enough faith in the film to hold back the release. The news is yet to sink in.”
The remake of the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Don (1978) , the film was not accepted as well as expected in India.
SRK’s brush with Germany is not new. Seeking to capitalise on the growing popularity of Indian culture, food and Bollywood, a German magazine has been launched with superstar Shah Rukh Khan on the cover in September.
And in October, SRK starrer Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna was met with a very enthusiastic response from movie buffs in Germany during the Hamburg Film Festival.
