The dashing John Abraham is leaning towards unconventional roles rather than playing routine romantic and action hero characters.
Often voted as India's sexiest movie star in polls, John said he needed to take a call on whether to take the unconventional route to the top.
“Going by recent results, I'm tempted to feel I'm most comfortable with unconventional roles,” he told a newspaper recently.
“I want audiences to identify me with unconventional films,” John added, who made his debut in Bollywood three years ago and struck fame in 2004 with Dhoom .
John recently won praise for Water that has been nominated in the foreign film category for the Oscars. In the film about the harsh treatment of Indian widows, he plays a law student who falls in love with a widow ( Lisa Ray ) living in a home where others like her are sent by their families to live in social exile.
John also played a television journalist covering the war against the Taliban in Afghanistan in Kabul Express that released last month.
“I know I have an audience and if I have faith in what I'm doing, so will they,” John was quoted as saying in the newspaper.
