The script of Nagesh Kukunoor’s forthcoming movie touched actor John Abraham so deeply that he broke down after reading it.
Despite being one of the sought-after stars in Bollywood, John is pretty open to arty films that don’t exactly fit into the Bollywood mainstream bracket. He has already done Kabul Express (with Kabir Khan) and has completed the shooting of Anurag Kashyap’s No Smoking .
Now, John as signed Nagesh Kukunoor ’s next movie Aashayein (Hopes) in which he plays a gambler. The film tells the story of a man who gambles his time and life away until he learns that he has very little time left to live.
Kukunoor first narrated the story idea to John on a telephone when John was promoting ‘Water’ in Los Angeles. On the phone itself, John was so impressed by the movie’s concept that he gave his consent to Kukunoor.
Later, when John read the movie’s script, he was so emotionally moved that he broke down while reading it. And it is learnt that John has read the script as many as five times and every time he was driven to tears.
John will first complete Vivek Agnihotri’s movie Goal in London, before starting to shoot for ‘Aashayein’.
Kukunoor plans to shoot the movie in Pondicherry. He’s yet to finalize John’s heroine in the film.
