Amitabh Bachchan has a deep connection with Kolkata, the city of joy where he is presently shooting for a film.
Kolkata is where Mr. Bachchan used to live and work before he moved to Mumbai to become an actor. Many memories from his youth are attached to the city.
Big B is nowadays back in Kolkata after a long time to shoot for Rituparno Ghosh’s English movie The Last Lear which is based on actor Utpal Dutt’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s ‘King Lear’. In the movie, Big B plays an aged Shakespearean actor who is near retirement. The movie also stars Preity Zinta .
While in Kolkata, Amitabh has been driving past the streets where he used to live and the place where he used to work. Seeing the places that connect directly to his past, Bachchan says he has been filled with nostalgia.
Moreover, at a function the superstar met some of his old friends and colleagues from the company he used to work in.
In Big B’s words, his stay in Kolkata has so far been “an emotional experience”.
And Bachchan is enjoying working with Rituparno Ghosh . He is quite impressed by Ghosh’s work ethics and creativity. The filmmaker actually gave Big B a lot of material (movies and books) on Shakespeare to help him prepare for the role.
Although the film doesn’t have a big budget, no compromises are being made on the technical grounds.
