HOME | SCOOP!! & NEWS | BOLLYWOOD Brett Lee has Bollywood on his mind18th Apr 2007 15.24 IST By Agencies After clean bowling many, Aussie pacer Brett Lee now finds himself bowled over by the glitz, glamour and colours of Bollywood and is planning to chart a career in the world's biggest film industry post-retirement. He is a huge fan of Preity Zinta 's dimples and Kareena Kapoor 's charms, can't stop raving about Amitabh Bachchan and has hired a personal tutor to master Hindi.
Brett Lee's love for all things Indian is hardly a secret and he has confessed on several occasions that the country is nothing short of a second home for him. The pacer is now planning to make the association all the more strong in the coming years and he can't think of anything better than Bollywood to do that. "I have always maintained that India and Bollywood are very special for me. Working in Bollywood is there in my post retirement plans, but I need to be very sure about the kind of roles I play. I have been offered a lot but for anything to materialise you need time which I can't devote right now as my first priority is cricket," Lee, who was recently in the capital to fulfill his advertising commitments, is quoted to have said. Paucity of time notwithstanding, the tearaway pacer has been making just the right moves as he prepares himself for an innings in Hindi cinema. He already has a chart topping duet with one of the most revered playback singers in Bollywood, Asha Bhosle . "You are the one for me", which Lee wrote, composed and sung, shows him trying to woo an Indian girl with a mix of Hindi and English lyrics. The song was number three on the charts of a leading radio station in the country. The success of the "fun song" has prompted Lee to reunite with Bhonsle for a second duet, which would be out by the end of this year. Lee says, building his music career is the first step towards realising his Bollywood dreams. "Haan main tumhara hoon, tumhara hi rahoonga. That's all I can say about Asha ji. She is a lovely lady and we are working together again. Of course this is a step towards Bollywood," he said. Second step, and perhaps the most important, is learning Hindi, which would require a lot of effort on Lee's part. He is still to go beyond his trademark "Namaste", "jaldi jaldi" and "thoda thoda" but a personal tutor has been hired to take care of the language barrier, which he hopes to cross within the next couple of years. "I am learning Hindi and I have picked up a bit of the language, but I know a lot is still to be learnt which will take time," he confessed. The speedster has even been watching Hindi films. "The latest I saw was Shakalaka Boom Boom . I liked the music, and the performances by lead actors. It was quite entertaining as a whole," he said. Whatever the role he gets, Lee, who is a bass guitarist in a band called ‘Six and Out’ back home in Australia, is quite clear about one thing, no one but he himself will sing his numbers in the movies. "I will do my songs myself. I think that would give a natural feel to my character," he said. Lee shouldn't have a problem whenever he decides to foray into the industry considering that he was offered a role by Mr. Bachchan himself and the pacer says he would want to share screen space with the Big B in his debut movie. As for his leading lady, his current favourites are Preity Zinta and Kareena Kapoor. "He (Big B) is the baadshah of Bollywood and it would be great if I get to work with him in my debut. As for actresses, I think Preity and Kareena are really good," he quipped.
