No, the great superstar isn’t switching his profession. He just brought to bear his years of experience as an actor to write some dialogues for Rituparno Ghosh’s movie.
The Last Lear is primarily a film in English language. Its plot revolves around a number of actors. In short, it is a film within a film.
During the film’s shooting in Mussouri one scene required Preity Zinta and Bengali actor Prosenjit to enact a scene from a Hindi movie. The dialogues were in Hindi.
Since Rituparno Ghosh is not well versed in Hindi, he casually asked Amitabh Bachchan , who plays the lead role, to write the dialogues in Hindi.
A true professional that Big B is, he walked away to a corner and began penning the dialogues. After a few minutes the superstar came to Ghosh and gave him the Hindi dialogues.
Ghosh found the dialogues perfectly suited to the requirement of the scene.
Contrary to some slanderous rumours about Big B’s “unprofessional behaviour” on the film’s shooting schedules, Ghosh says he is so impressed by Mr. Bachchan’s work ethics that he wants to make many more films with him.
