Bollywood's Friday spread: Much variety to chose from

Competition at the box office will be fierce this Friday as three films based on very different themes are set to hit the theatres.

Movie buffs will have a variety to choose from this weekend’s releases. There will be a ‘Deol’ treat in Anil Sharma’s ‘Apne’. Himesh Reshammiya makes his acting debut in ‘Aap Ka Suroor – The Movie’. And Mahesh Bhatt’s Vishesh Films come up with another interesting movie called ‘Awarapan’.

Of the three, it is Apne which is expected to pull the maximum crowd because of its star cast that has Dharmendra , Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol coming together in a movie for the first time.

‘Apne’ has Dharmendra playing a disgraced boxer Baldev Choudhary who hopes that his elder son Angad (Sunny) will reclaim his lost honour someday. But the elder son has other aspirations from life. That is when Baldev’s younger son Karan (Bobby) dons the boxing gloves to become an international champion. But this journey will not be without pain for all the members of the family.

Awarapan can come close to giving stiff competition to ‘Apne’. The movie, directed by Mohit Suri , features Emraan Hashmi , Shreya Saran and Mrinalini Sharma . Emraan plays Shivam, the henchman of a Hong Kong based gangster called Mallik. Shivam has a dark past. He is a heartbroken man who once sought love but found pain and loneliness. Shivam is given an unusual job by his boss. He has to keep a close eye on the boss’s mistress Reema, a Pakistani girl who was trafficked to Hong Kong and sold to Mallik. If Reema is found unfaithful to Mallik, Shivam has his orders to eliminate her. As Shivam spends time with Reema, demons from his past return to haunt him. Then he also gets to know a secret of Reema that leaves him with a difficult choice: either to kill her or to revolt against his boss.

Many expectations are also attached to Himesh Reshammiya ’s flick Aap Ka Suroor that has him pairing with Hansika Motwani . Mallika Sherawat plays a negative role.

The flick has Himesh playing an Indian rock star named HR who goes to Germany for a tour. HR is in love with Riyaa (Hansika). But when he is in Germany HR is falsely implicated in a murder case. While he flees to prove his innocence, the police of Stuttgart is on his trail. Mallika plays a vamp who wants to win HR’s love by any means.

‘Aap Ka Suroor’ is directed by Prashant Chaddha who has previously directed music videos for Himesh.

According to trade pundits, ‘Aap Ka Suroor’ has raised curiosity among people because Himesh’s fans want to see how good an actor he is. Otherwise, the flick may not be able to brave the tough competition it faces from ‘Apne’ and ‘Awarapan’.
