HOME | SCOOP!! & NEWS | BOLLYWOOD Spray-painting a dog for continuity sake!25th July 2007 20.39 IST By Aparajita Ghosh Funny things sometimes filmmakers have to do to maintain continuity while shooting films. One such incident occurred while shooting Viveck Vaswani's film, Dulha Mil Gaya , which stars Sushmita Sen in the lead role of a Trinidad-based supermodel named Shimmer.
In the film, Shimmer has a pet dog with whom she discusses personal and trivial matters. The producers arranged a cute silver-grey French poodle for the part of Sush’s dog, named Bozo, in the film. Significant portions of the film showing interaction between Sush and Bozo were shot in Mumbai. Problems began with the start of shooting schedule in Trinidad. For medical reasons, the French poodle could not be flown to Trinidad. But the entire team, including Sush, had already reached there. To avoid any delays in shooting, the producer began looking for a similar dog in Trinidad. Several poodles were auditioned but none resembled the appearance of Bozo. It was then the producer decided to spray-paint a white poodle to make it look like Bozo. And the funny thing is that just a day or two after the Trinidad dog was spray-painted, the French poodle in Mumbai got the clearance to fly to Trinidad. Finally, the original Bozo arrived in Trinidad and the shooting resumed.
