Ritesh Deshmukh turns action hero for 'Cash'

Ritesh Deshmukh has made a convincing transition from a comedian to an action hero for Anubhav Sinha’s movie Cash .

Even though Ritesh had to shed sweat, blood and tears for his role in ‘Cash’, the actor happily did so. He says the adrenalin rush spurred him more than the pain.

In the film, Ritesh plays a smart thief named Lucky who is an expert with skateboards. Obviously, he had to learn skateboarding for his role.

While training and while performing stunts during the shoot, Ritesh got injured more than once.

He received a major injury while shooting a high-speed sequence with co-star Esha Deol .

It was an action sequence in which Ritesh had to jump from the boot of a convertible car that Esha was driving at high speed. But when the director called ‘action’ there was a slight lapse of timing by Ritesh.

Esha moved on cue but Ritesh fell behind and his jacket got caught on the rod behind the car. Unfortunately, Esha didn’t realize that Ritesh was caught behind and she kept driving on with Ritesh hanging on by the antenna.
When the car stopped, Ritesh was unmovable. Two people from the unit rushed and picked him up. The actor had received bruises on his hand, chest and head.

But this incident didn’t prevent Ritesh from doing his own stunts.

In another stunt, he jumped off a bridge on a skateboard. He had a special trainer to teach him skateboarding.

Ritesh also had to learn the skill of street luging (sliding down the roads while lying flat on a big skateboard). During one practice session while he was luging on a road he saw some cars coming down from the opposite side. To avoid a collision Ritesh swerved in the opposite direction but found that there were pebbles there. The board toppled over on the pebbles and Ritesh hit the ground hard. He received an injury on his head.

‘Cash’ is an action packed thriller about a bunch of thieves after priceless diamonds. The movie releases on August 3.
