Some 'Heyy Babyy' tales!

Shooting for Heyy Babyy was a unique experience for the film’s cast and crew. Some days they cracked pranks on each other, and some days they maintained pin-drop silence on the sets.

As Sajid Khan’s first full-length feature film hits the theatres on Friday, we take a look at some interesting incidents that took place while making the film.

BABY, THE BOSS

Even though the film has three male stars ( Akshay Kumar , Fardeen Khan and Ritesh Deshmukh ), it was little baby Juhaina who was treated as the real star. She was the boss on the sets.

At all times during the shooting, there was a doctor and a nurse on the sets to take care of the baby. Smoking was prohibited on the sets and the crew was not allowed to use mobile phones when the baby was resting.

SLEEPING BEAUTY

In one particular shoot in Mumbai, complete silence was maintained on the sets for as many as eight hours because the baby was sleeping and the scenes to be canned required the baby to be asleep.

Everyone had to remove their footwear outside the studio to avoid any sound of walking. Cell phones were switched off and people spoke to one another in hushed tones. It was a crucial shoot because Akshay Kumar had to leave Mumbai the next day to shoot for another film. Sajid Khan wanted to shoot the entire sleeping sequence on that day. And guess what? He managed to do it.

PRANKS

When Akshay Kumar happens to be in the star cast, can there be no pranks on the sets. Once, while shooting in Australia, Akshay pulled a prank on actress Vidya Balan . He called her and told her that he was the jockey of an Indian radio station in Australia. Vidya obliged the caller and gave a lengthy 20-mintue interview. It was only later she realized that Akshay had pulled a fast one on her.

Later, Akshay and Vidya teamed up and pulled a similar prank on Ritesh Deshmukh.

PARTIES

A tremendous bonhomie developed between the three actors and Sajid Khan and producer Sajid Nadiadwala during the making of the film. During the lunch and dinner breaks they would all sit together in Ritesh’s vanity van and share food and jokes.

When the film’s shooting was over, Fardeen Khan threw a party for the crew. But there was one condition: everyone had to bring his/her own food.

AKSHAY-SAJID BONDING

Akshay Kumar and Sajid Khan have known each other for as many as 22 years. Both have struggled their way up in the industry to reach where they are today. Throughout these years they have remained friends.

When Sajid Nadiadwala approached Akki and narrated him the script Akki instantly said yes. “I liked the story idea and also the fact that Sajid (Khan) was directing it,” says Akshay.

NOT A COPY

There is a popular notion that ‘Heyy Babyy’ is a copy of Hollywood movie ‘Three Men And A Baby’. But Sajid Khan denies it.

“The germ of the idea came to me from my friends who are robustic guys when it comes to women, and who have not changed even after marriage,” Sajid is quoted as saying.

‘Heyy Babyy’ tells the tale of three flirtatious men whose lives are transformed with the coming of a little baby.
