Abhishek, Aishwarya continue their pilgrimage

Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan , his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan visited the famous Asthane Maqdoom Ameen Peer Dargah, better known as Bade Dargah or Pedda Dargah as part of their pilgrimage to holy places across the country.

The couple was accompanied by the junior Bachchan’s mother Jaya Bachchan , along with Samajwadi Party MP Amar Singh and his family on the visit in Kadapa on Thursday.

The visit was as part of their pilgrimage to holy places across the country, Amar Singh said. Abhishek and his entourage, who flew in from Bangalore by a private helicopter, were received by TDP district president S Raghurami Reddy and other leaders along with the representatives of the dargah.

After a short stay at the State Guest House, the Bachchans left for the dargah. As women are not allowed inside the shrine, Ash, Jaya and other women stayed outside while Abhishek, accompanied by Amar Singh, went in, offered floral garlands and a chhadar. He prayed for the well-being of his family.

Dargah committee members Ameer, Khan and Nayeem explained the history and tradition of the dargah. Abhishek also visited the library in the shrine where some rare books are kept.

In a brief interaction with media persons later, Amar Singh said the Bachchans visited the dargah as part of their visit to holy places across the country.

As per the advice of noted music director A R Rahman , who often visits the Pedda Dargah, they (Bachchans) had been planning to visit the dargah for some time but could make it now, Singh said.
