Close but no cigar! Bipasha Basu’s effort to have Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo to promote her upcoming movie Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal has come to naught.
Bipasha Basu , who befriended Ronaldo while hosting The Seven New Wonders of the World event in Lisbon in July this year, had been trying her best to get the feisty Manchester United striker to promote the film. She had spoken to Ronaldo in this regard and he had expressed his interest to promote the film.
But now, a big hurdle has come in the way – the clash of sponsors.
‘Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal’ is sponsored by Reebok, but the team that Ronaldo plays for – Man. United – has Reebok’s competitor Nike as its sponsorer.
Due to legal and contractual regulations, Ronaldo cannot be part of the film’s promotion.
Bipasha says she is disappointed and so is Ronaldo.
Meanwhile, with just a few days remaining for the film’s release, Bipasha and her beau John Abraham have got busy promoting the movie.
‘Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal’ tells the story of a ragtag bunch of football players from South Asian community in Britain. John plays a footballer ousted from an English team due to racial discrimination. Arshad Warsi plays the team’s captain. Bipasha plays the physiotherapist.
