Saif Ali Khan was not scared of doing his own stunts for Abbas Mastan’s thriller Race .
It is not that Saif hasn’t done his stunts in the past, but this time he did something unprecedented. Saif jumped off the terrace of a 22-storey high-rise in Durban for an action sequence in ‘Race’.
The stunt was conducted under the supervision of action director Allan Amin. Saif was secured with a safety cables to control the speed and direction of his fall.
However, before the actor did the stunt himself, Amin had his own stuntman do the fall to demonstrate to Saif.
Film’s producer Ramesh Taurani was very apprehensive of Saif doing his own stunt. So he was present on the sets and checked the cables himself.
Then Saif was harnessed to the safety cable. The actor took the plunge and fell from the height of 22 floors.
Four cameras were rolling and canned shots of Saif’s stunt from different angles, including close-ups. However, Saif was not satisfied with his first fall. So he tried the jump again. The second time also the actor wasn’t satisfied. So he jumped for the third time. The shot was then okayed by the director duo Abbas Mastan .
Saif says he was a bit nervous before every fall but took the challenge and did the stunt himself.
‘Race’ is an action thriller about two brothers, played by Saif and Akshaye Khanna . Bipasha Basu is Saif’s love interest in the film.
