Aamir Khan quibbles about 'Black'

Actor Aamir Khan and superstar Amitabh Bachchan have lately been engaged in a squabble over the latter’s movie Black .

In an interview Aamir had called ‘Black’ “insensitive” and described Big B’s performance in it “over the top”. In response, Mr. Bachchan took on him in a recent interview.

“If Aamir is unhappy with this, let him demonstrate otherwise. I would be keen and anxious to educate myself on any prospective change that he might introduce to cinema,” Big B had told a Mumbai tabloid.

On Aamir’s comment on Big B’s acting, the superstar had replied: “I cannot comment whether my performance was towering or not, but Aamir may be right. Maybe the performances did go ‘over the top’ of his head!”

Now, Aamir has responded back in his latest update on his blog. Aamir said he never meant any disrespect to Mr. Bachchan.

Here are the excerpts:

“On my comments on ‘Black’, let me start by commenting that I have the highest regard for Mr Bachchan and I am very big fan of his work…I have no hesitation in saying that I don't even feature on the same platform as an actor.

“And let me also clarify that my observations were towards the film and the way it was handled not towards any of the actors. I am very aware that the key of every performance is very much determined by the director.

“My big exception towards ‘Black’ is the fact that a child with severe difficulties is shown being ill-treated instead of being treated with love, care and understanding...I, without any hesitation, strongly condemn this kind of cinema no matter who is involved with the film,” writes Aamir.

By the way, Aamir’s approach to kids with “severe difficulties” will be out there for us to see in a few weeks when his Taare Zameen Par hits the theatres on December 21. Going by the film’s promos, there is something unique in store for movie buffs.
