Producers of Madhuri Dixit 's comeback film Aaja Nachle , which has run into a controversy over its title song, today apologised for the lyrics and said that immediate action has been taken to remove the objectionable words.

The instructions to remove the offending lyrics in the title song of the film had been sent to all distributors and exhibitors on Friday night and will not be heard in theatres from Saturday, a release from film's producer Yashraj Films stated in Mumbai.

"It was not our intention to hurt the feelings of any individual or community of our great nation. If we have inadvertently hurt the sentiments of anybody, I apologise for the same," Yash Chopra , Chairman of Yashraj Films, said.

"We have taken immediate remedial action by deleting the line from the prints of 'Aaja Nachle' all over the country," he added.

The film, which features Madhuri after a long hiatus, was released across the country on Friday but had been pulled off screens in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab after the lyrics of its title song were deemed offensive to certain communities.

Piyush Mishra , the lyricist of the film has also offered an unconditional apology over the objections raised on the lyrics, saying he had no intention of hurting the sentiments of any caste.

"If my lyrics have hurt the sentiments of anyone, then I offer my apology. However, I did not have any intention to hurt anybody," Mishra said.

The scriptwriter of films like The Legend of Bhagat Singh , Yahaan and 1971 , Mishra said he could not even imagine hurting anyone's sentiments.

Mishra has also penned the songs of the film Black Friday , that met with critical acclaim.

Deleting the controversial lyrics notwithstanding, Haryana today followed its neighbours Punjab and Uttar Pradesh in putting a ban on the screening of the film in the state.

According to an official announcement in Chandigarh Saturday evening, the movie has been banned in all 20 districts of the state, including Gurgaon and Faridabad, bordering the National Capital with immediate effect till further orders.

All District Magistrates in the state have been directed to take immediate action to suspend the screening of the film in their respective districts and send a report to the government immediately, an official spokesman said.

He said that the decision was taken following reports from various quarters that there was "heavy resentment and anguish among the people belonging to Scheduled Caste community over some objectionable utterances in a part of the film allegedly demeaning their caste and thereby hurting their sentiments.

"Therefore, the possibility of violent protest and clashes leading to breach of peace and law and order situation in the state with resultant damage to public life and property could not be ruled out," the spokesman said.

The order banning the screening of the movie has been issued under Section 6 of the Punjab Cinemas (Regulation) Act 1952 as applicable to Haryana, he said.
