It is strange that after two full-length feature films it took a short film for Meghna Gulzar to get critical acclaim.
Yes, we are talking about Meghna’s film ‘Puranmaasi’ in Dus Kahaniyaan . Starring Amrita Singh and Minissha Lamba , the film tells the story of a mother whose impulsive surrender to her desires on a fateful night destroys the life of her soon-to-be wed daughter.
Meghna’s mature handling of the sensitive subject has received praises from critics. Most of all, it has impressed avant-garde filmmaker Vishal Bharadwaj , who sees her as his sister.
“She has done me proud by her work in ‘Dus Kahaniyaan’,” says Vishal.
So impressed is Vishal by Meghna’s skills that he has offered to produce a film for her.
This would be a great leap forward for Meghna whose previous two films Filhaal and Just Married haven’t been appreciated much.
Meanwhile, Bharadwaj has expressed his wish to be part of the ‘Dus Kahaniyaan’ sequel. In fact, Vishal’s last film was a short film on AIDS titled ‘Blood Brothers’.
