Bollywood has lent its blitz to drive against human trafficking as India's rich stars have been roped in by the United Nations to curb one of the world's most lucrative businesses.
Mega superstar Amitabh Bachchan , action hero Akshay Kumar , Nana Patekar and the beautiful Katrina Kaif will now be seen in a two-minute clip, titled 'One Life, One Price', aimed at raising awareness of this modern form of slavery.
The clip will be shown in over 1,100 theatres across India before the start of Welcome which will hit the screens on Friday.
Apart from this, Khan, Kapoor, Patekar, Akshay and Katrina have been also recording separate messages in support of the cause while Bachchan, Preity Zinta and John Abraham are enlisted to make public service announcements to arrest human trafficking.
The partnership of United Nations' Office on Drug Control with the Indian film industry is part of a broader programme called UN.GIFT, which was launched this March to bring governments, the private sector, academia, civil society and the media together to combat the scourge of human trafficking.
