Sushmita Sen goes the Aamir Khan way!

Sushmita Sen is all set to produce and direct her dream project. She would also be the film’s lead actress.

More and more Bollywood stars are discovering their potential. Aamir Khan recently showed that he was not just a good actor and producer but an equally competent director through his film Taare Zameen Par .

Actor Ajay Devgan , who has produced films in the past, is now working on his first film as a director – U Me Aur Hum , starring him with wife Kajol .

Salman Khan recently sprang a surprise when he penned the entire script of a film called ‘Veer’ for which he is presently searching a director.

And now, actress Sushmita Sen is set to join the ranks.

Sushmita has long harboured the dream of making a film on Rani Laxmibai. Early last year, she had said she would produce the film under her production company Tantra Entertainment so that she doesn’t have to compromise with her vision on the life of the valiant queen of Jhansi who died fighting the imperial British after the uprising of 1857.

To direct the project, Sush had considered former beau Manav Menon (an ad filmmaker) but dropped the idea. She later approached noted director Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi to direct the film, but he did not show much interest in the project.

Now, Sush has apparently decided to direct the film herself. She would be assisted in this new task by her good friend Mudassar Aziz in whose film Dulha Mil Gaya she has been working.

Aziz believes Sushmita is an intelligent person and is capable of directing a film.

Sush’s spokesperson, Krishna Bannerjee, confirms that Sush would direct the film but refused to give more details, as people associated with the project are bound with a non-disclosure contract.

The film is likely to roll early this year.

If Sush indeed produces, acts in, and directs the historical, she would arguably be the first woman in the history of Indian cinema to do these three tasks together.

Well, it seems history is in the making not just on reel, but in real life as well.
