As the temperature soars up, the cola wars are heating up. While on the one hand, Pepsi is coming up with its latest commercial featuring Shah Rukh Khan , Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone , on the other hand, its rival and competitor Cola Cola is relying solely on Akshay Kumar to push forward their brand Thums Up.
Akshay recently shot an action-packed Thums Up commercial in Kuala Lumpur. Shot over the period of a week, the commercial shows Akshay at the wheels of a car, in a high-speed chase sequence during which he zig-zags his way through the narrow and labyrinthine alleys of Kuala Lumpur to get to his Thums Up bottle. Besides action, the ad also has a punch of humour at its end, which shows Akshay lying in a hospital, all plastered up, but still happy to sip his Thums Up. The commercial, conceptualized by Leo Burnett and directed by Malaysian director Farouk Aljoffrey, was made at an estimated budget of Rs. 3 crore. The ad has Akshay sporting his new, cropped-hair look. Folks at Coca Cola are confident that this action-packed commercial will not just match but may also outshine the Pepsi commercial featuring three top Bollywood stars.
