HOME | SCOOP!! & NEWS | BOLLYWOOD Ruslaan Mumtaz to play a philandering pharaoh27th Feb 2008 20.05 IST By ApunKaChoice Twenty-five-year old Ruslaan Mumtaz will play an Egyptian king in an international film. Ruslaan, who made his debut in the teeny-weeny Bollywood love story Mera Pehla Pehla Pyar , is now set to be catapulted to a different league altogether. English director Christopher Miles has reportedly finalized Ruslaan to play the leading role in his film ‘The Last Pharaoh’.
The film will chronicle the real story of Egypt’s last king, Farouk who ruled over Egypt and Sudan from 1936 to 1952. Farouk was infamous for his hedonistic lifestyle that included his strong fascination for women. Director Christopher Miles finalized Ruslaan for the part because of the young actor’s remarkable facial resemblance to king Farouk. Ruslaan only needs to put on a little weight and grow a pointy moustache to pass off as Farouk. Miles has also seen Ruslaan’s first film (MP3) and is learnt to be pretty satisfied by the young lad’s screen presence. Ruslaan is presently going through books and videos on king Farouk to understand his body language better. Reports also suggest that the film might also star British actress Keira Knightley to play an Italian opera singer who had a passionate affair with king Farouk while he was in exile.
