She is already being touted as the next Kangana Ranaut in the making. Sweet and sexy Sonal is set to make her acting debut in the Vishesh Films’ next production titled Jannat opposite Emraan Hashmi . Born and brought up in Delhi, Sonal shot to fame by reaching the finals of the Miss India pageant in 2005. It was also the year Sonal won the Miss World Tourism in Malaysia. She was the first Indian to win the title. Once she was a popular name, modeling offers began pouring in without her asking. Though her parents did not approve of her becoming a model, Sonal pursued her dream and did many advertisements for popular brands like Ponds, Diet Pepsi, Lays, Hero Honda Passion and Nokia. She even shifted to Mumbai to continue her modeling career. Things took a new turn when Mahesh Bhatt spotted Sonal in an ad. Known for giving breaks to new girls, Bhatt approached Sonal for his movie ‘Jannat’, directed by Kunal Deshmukh. Though Sonal had got acting offers in the past and she had turned them down, the script of Jannat “captivated” her. “I knew that females have more than walk-on roles in the films by the Bhatts. And after I heard ‘Jannat’, I immediately said yes,” Sonal is quoted as saying. The rest, as they say, is history. Sonal was aboard the project and she got considerable help and support from the entire team at Vishesh Films while shooting her first movie. And oh, she also has a passionate kiss with Emraan in the film. Ask her about the kiss and Sonal replies: “It was a demand of the scene. Neither me nor Emraan was comfortable doing it.” Emraan not comfortable kissing? Hard to believe!
