Sarkar Raj : A Sneak Peek

After a hard-hitting adaptation of Francis Ford Coppola’s classic ‘The Godfather’ in Sarkar , filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma comes up with Sarkar Raj, which is neither an adaptation of ‘The Godfather 2’ nor a sequel to ‘Sarkar’.

The film, in Varma’s words, chronicles another episode in the Nagare family. It does not begin where ‘Sarkar’ ended.

In ‘Sarkar Raj’, Amitabh Bachchan (as the ageing Subhash Nagare) takes the backseat, while Abhishek Bachchan plays a more substantial part along with Aishwarya Rai .

Aishwarya plays Anita, a ruthless businesswoman whose only aim is to make money for her organization. She is the CEO of an international power company. Her moral values are in contrast to the character played by Abhishek Bachchan. In fact, Ash and Abhi are ideologically pitted against each other in the film.

Abhishek plays Shankar, the scion of the Nagare family who believes in using money for the betterment of the people. He believes in making money for the people. While Aishwarya’s character believes in making money from the people.

‘Sarkar Raj’ is Ash and Abhi’s first film together after their marriage last year. Incidentally, the film’s first look is being unveiled on April 20, 2008, which is also their first wedding anniversary.

‘Sarkar Raj’ has music by Amar Mohile and cinematography by Amit Roy. The film is set to release on June 6.
