Aamir Khan has shown that when he boycotts an award, no amount of persuasion can change this mind. And when he decides to accept one, no injury can prevent him.
Despite pulling his hamstring muscle while shooting a fight scene for Ghajini (Hindi) in Hyderabad on Wednesday, Aamir flew to Mumbai to attend the Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Award function which is organized every year by legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar and her siblings in the memory of their late father, Dinanath Mangeshkar.
Yesterday, Aamir was given a special award by Lata Mangeshkar for “his immense contribution of Hindi cinema.”
Aamir, who was dressed in jeans and black shirt, was limping and occasionally grimacing from the pain from his injury.
Lata’s brother, Pt. Hridyanath Mangeshkar, said on the occasion: “We know Aamir doesn’t attend award functions. But he made an exception for us. We are happy about it.”
So far, Aamir has not attended any popular award show in Mumbai this year and has also refused to be part of the upcoming IIFA awards.
