Ramu resolute about remaking 'Sholay' again

Once bitten twice shy. That is certainly not the case with maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma who recently described himself in an interview as “a dog’s tail that never gets straightened”.

A source from Ramu’s production house says the filmmaker, who received much flak for his shoddy remake of Sholay ( Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag ), is not joking to media when he says he will remake ‘Sholay’ again.

“He is serious about it but he will remake it only when he feels the time is right,” says the source.

Ever since coming out of his self-imposed seclusion after the debacle of ‘Aag’, Ramu has humbly admitted that he went way wrong in the remake. But he also added that all the criticism has made him resolute to remake the film again.

It may be recalled that Ramu is known for remaking his flops to make a point to the audience and the critics.

Satya was a remake of his flop ‘Drohi’. Bhoot was a remake of Raat. Similarly, the new Shiva (with Mohit Ahlawat ) was a remake of his flop production James .

Ramu recently said in an interview: “So many things went wrong during the making of ‘Aag’ that I had to continuously make changes in my film. Secondly, I made the mistake of presenting the characters as it is from ‘Sholay’. I should have taken the basic plot of the film and then developed the characters as I would deem fit.”

As of now, Ramu is amused that the latest Yashraj Films release Tashan is being compared to his ‘Aag’.

At least some consolation for the director.
