Shah Rukh Khan headed for clash with Rajnikant

Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming production Billoo Barber and Tamil superstar Rajnikant’s film Kuselan are based on the same story.

Both the films are inspired from Malayalam hit ‘Katha Parayumbol’ which is based on the folk tale of Krishna-Sudama friendship. While ‘Billoo Barber’ has Irrfan Khan as its protagonist, Pashupati is the main hero of ‘Kuselan’. Shah Rukh Khan plays an important but not the leading role in the Hindi film, and similarly Rajnikant plays a guest role in the Tamil film being directed by P Vasu.

Work on both the films is underway presently. Priyadarshan is shooting ‘Billoo Barber’ in Mumbai’s Film City, and Vasu is shooting ‘Kuselan’ in Hyderabad’s Ramoji Filmcity.

What’s more amazing is that both the films will hit the theatres around the same time around August or September this year.

This really puts Shah Rukh Khan and Rajnikant on a collision course because the makers of ‘Kuselan’ reportedly have plans to dub their film in Hindi as well.

Even though their films are headed for a clash, sources say SRK and Rajnikant are not the ones to get in a game of one-upmanship. In fact, when Rajnikant defeated SRK to be the entertainer of the year for a news channel recently, SRK (who was present on the show) applauded Rajnikant and asked him the secret of being the Shahenshah. In reply, Rajnikant had said: “I can tell you Shah Rukh that one day you will definitely be a Shahenshah.”

It’s an interesting coincidence that the two stars are now going to compete for a bigger pie at the box-office.
