Director Ashutosh Gowarikar has taken every pre-emptive measure to make sure that the story of his next film does not leak out.
It’s common knowledge by now that Ashutosh’s next film is called What's Your Raashi , starring Harman Baweja and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles. The movie is based on a novel called ‘Kimball Ravenswood’ by Gujarati writer Madhu Rye. Gowarikar first read the book about thirteen years ago.
While Ashutosh has already bought the rights of the book from the author, he further wanted to make sure that the story of the book remains a secret. So he did something unusual. He bought every single copy of the book from the bookstores.
That done, the director has now begun co-writing the film’s script along with his trusted colleague Naushil Mehta. The best part about ‘What’s Your Raashi’, says Gowarikar, is that he doesn’t have to do any research work, unlike his last films Lagaan , Swades and Jodhaa Akbar all of which required research of one type or another.
‘What’s Your Raashi’ is a light-hearted, frothy, romantic comedy. About his choice of actors, Gowarikar says he finalized Harman first after watching the promos and rushes of Love Story 2050 . Priyanka came on board later.
Like his previous films, Gowarikar once again wants A R Rahman to compose the music of ‘What’s Your Raashi’.
