There is a character in Sarkar Raj that has a strong resemblance to Raj Thackeray.
Many brows are going to be raised when the character of a bespectacled, firebrand leader with an uncanny facial resemblance to the MNS leader Raj Thackeray takes the center-stage of political intrigue in Ram Gopal Varma ’s Friday release ‘Sarkar Raj’.
In the film starring Amitabh Bachchan , Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai , this character has assumed special significance after the fracas between Raj Thackeray and Big B over the development of Maharashtra.
Incidentally, the Thackeray look-alike in the film is a Marathi and his name is also Raj – full name Rajesh Shringharpure.
Ramu says there is no deliberate allusion to Raj Thackeray in the film because the movie was shot before the Thackeray-Big B controversy happened. However, the filmmaker doesn’t deny knowing Raj Thackeray and admits that somewhere subconsciously he may have been inspired to include a character similar to Raj in his film.
And when you ask Ramu what is the difference between his previous film Sarkar and ‘Sarkar Raj’, the answer is terse: “Raj”.
