Meet Amita Pathak, the 'Haal-e-Dil' girl

A three-year-old child doesn’t have much sense of ambition or aim. But Amita Pathak knew what she wanted to be at such a tender age.

Amita, the doted daughter of producer Kumar Mangat , steps into Bollywood this Friday with Haal-e-Dil , a film produced by her papa. In the movie Amita plays the love interest of two guys, played by newcomers Nakuul Mehta and Adhyayan .

With ‘Haal-e-Dil’, Amita is realizing a long cherished dream, a dream she first saw when she was just three years old.

When she was a kid, Amita saw the shooting of a film starring Madhuri Dixit and Mithun Chakraborty . The image of Madhuri and Mithun’s fans scrambling for just an autograph of the two stars left an indelible impression on the fragile mind of the little girl. That instant she knew what she wanted to be – a star like Madhuri.

At first daddy dearest did not take Amita seriously when she told him what she wanted to be. She had to grow to a girl of eighteen to be taken seriously.

Since Mangat himself was into film production, Amita did odd jobs as an assistant on the sets of Omkara . It was still a long time when daddy found the right script that Amita really wanted to act in. The film was ‘Haal-e-Dil’.

Having harboured the ambition of becoming an actress since childhood, Amita had already groomed herself for the job. She had learnt acting from Kishore Namit Kapoor Acting Academy. She had learnt dance from Shiamak Davar. But still there was scope for improvement.

So she and her co-star Nakuul Mehta underwent a three-month acting workshop with theatre artiste Om Katare before shooting the film.

Today, as Amita begins her Bollywood career, she does not deny that she has had the privilege of being the daughter of a producer. But she also says there is no substitute for talent and hard work.

Now it remains to be seen how much mettle this gal has got. Our best wishes are with her.
