Aashayein has John Abraham playing a compulsive gambler whose life changes completely after fate plays a cruel joke on him.

The movie, written and directed by Nagesh Kukunoor , stars John with relatively lesser known actors like Sonal Sehgal, Prateeksha Lonkar, Girish Karnad, Farida Jalal and Ashwin Chitale.

Character Sketches:

John Abraham as Rahul Sharma

Rahul is an angry, confused, compulsive gambler who wishes to live the life he has always dreamt of.

Sonal Sehgal as Nafisa

She is a doting, loving, loyal girlfriend who wishes and hopes that love always wins.

Prateeksha Lonkar as Sister Grace

Sister Grace will bend her principles for the greater good. She wishes to dedicate her life for the happiness of her inmates.

Girish Karnad as Parthasarthy

He is a fun-loving uncle to everyone. But he is stupidly stubborn on his principles. He wishes to be reunited with his family.

Farida Jalal as Madhu

She is intelligent, virtuous and loving. She wishes just to lead a normal life and not be ostracized.

Ashwin Chitale as Govinda

Ten-year-old Govinda loves comics, mangoes and telling stories to people. He wishes that everyone’s life be just like a comic book.

Synopsis

‘Aashayein’ is the story of a compulsive gambler who discovers new meanings of fortune and life through a dramatic turn of events.

At a party to celebrate his big win at gambling, Rahul proposes his girlfriend Nafisa. Within minutes of announcing his engagement to her, Rahul collapses on the floor.

After a medical diagnosis, Rahul discovers that he has only a few months left to live. How he makes the most of this time and how it changes him is what ‘Aashayein’ is about.

The movie is the tale of Rahul’s journey from darkness to light. A journey about love, hate, life, death, and above all, hope.

The film is jointly produced by Percept Picture Company and T-Series.
