Aamir Khan plays half-male and half-female

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan will be seen in an androgynous avatar in a television commercial.

Aamir has taken on a new challenge in a television commercial for Tata Sky. The Bollywood superstar has been signed on as the new brand ambassador of the company.

In the first ad, directed by Neeraj Vora , one half of Aamir dresses up as a Punjabi bride, while the other half dresses up as an NRI groom. A special costume was designed to give this two-in-one look to Aamir.

The right side of the costume (representing female) comprised of a pink salwar kameez while the left side (representing male) was a blue sherwani. To give an added appeal, make-up artist Mickey Contractor gave different skin tones to the either side of Aamir's face.

With the look in place, Aamir had to perform impeccably to bring out both the male and female aspects of his character in the ad.

"I had to concentrate a great deal on my body movements and expressions," Aamir says.

In the past Aamir has played woman on two occasions - once in movie 'Baazi' and then in a Coke ad.
