Ranbir KapoorExclusive : Bollywood stars doing khullam khulla pyaar!

The age when Bollywood stars hid their love behind the beaten-to-death cliché “we’re just friends” is well passé. Today, they believe in khullam khulla pyaar.

They don’t make a big deal about accepting they are in love or, in some cases, even out of it. They hold hands to pose for the flashing cameras of the shutterbugs and mince no words in expressing their love for each other. Bollywood stars of the present times don’t believe in hiding their love; on the contrary, they love to flaunt it.

Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone recently did something unprecedented when they narrated the whole story of how they fell in love to a glossy. Their narration was so detailed that it revealed everything from the first time they met, to the first time they dated, to the first movie they watched together, to how Ranbir pursued Deepika and finally won her love. Never before in Bollywood have two stars spoken so openly about their relationship as Ranbir and Deepika did.

Almost equal to them is the match of Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor . Of the two, Saif has been very open about the relationship, has worn his heart on his sleeve and even got Kareena’s name tattooed on the arm underneath that sleeve. Saif has not kept secret his desire to have Kareena in every single film he produces (no matter how practically impossible it may be) and has excitedly admitted that he wants to marry her as soon as possible.

Or take Imran Khan , the Bollywood fresher who made his way to the hearts of many of his female fans with his first film Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na . Yet he must have broken some of these very hearts when he walked hand-in-hand with his steady girlfriend Avantika Malik at the premiere of his film.

Such an open display of one’s affection is a far cry from the days of yore when romantic affairs were conducted clandestinely – behind closed doors and drawn curtains. And even when those affairs came out in the open, the couple never openly admitted to it.

“But today’s stars are under constant media scrutiny. Every move of theirs is observed by paparazzi hidden in nooks and corners. So it’s natural for them (the stars) to come out in the open about their relationship rather than conceal it with lame excuses and false comments. Accepting a relationship brings them publicity and is a sort of image building exercise,” says an industry insider.

Yet there are some who like to keep their amours private. Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif have till date never admitted to being in a relationship, even though bachcha bachcha in tinsel town knows about their affair. Nor has Priyanka Chopra yet accepted that she has been seeing Harman Baweja .

But then, these are a few exceptions. On the whole, Bollywood stars no longer consider it sacrilegious to talk about their personal lives. Be it Bipasha Basu and John Abraham or Amisha Patel and her London-based beau Kanav Puri, or even the usually reserved Kangana Ranaut and Adhyayan – when it comes to love, they declare it khullam khulla. Decorum be damned.
