HOME | SCOOP!! & NEWS | BOLLYWOOD 'Fashion' rakes in moolah from in-film ads17th Oct 2008 17.00 IST By ApunKaChoice Fashion may be director Madhur Bhandarkar ’s most expensive film to date, but the movie has already earned about one third cost of its budget through the in-film advertisements. It is a concept that has been tapped by Bollywood producers and directors for many years now. Right from Subhash Ghai’s Yaadein to Balki’s Cheeni Kum , from Sanjay Gupta’s Kaante to Apoorva Lakhia’s Mission Istanbul , different products and brands have been highlighted in films as not just a medium of advertisements but also a way of cost-recovery by the producers of big budget films. 
Now, UTV has done the same for ‘Fashion’. The movie has six prestigious brand placements - clothing brands Kimaya and Reebok, Lenovo laptop, Sunsilk shampoo, Cellucom and LG Electronics. According to reports, these brand placements have fetched the producers a handsome earning of Rs.8.5 crores which is about a third of the movie’s total budget. A UTV marketing executive says the products have been placed seamlessly in the film’s screenplay. ‘Fashion’ is set for Diwali release. The movie stars Priyanka Chopra , Kangana Ranaut , Arjan Bajwa , Mugdha Godse , Arbaaz Khan and Kitu Gidwani.
