Anupam Kher elated after bagging Woody Allen film

The honour couldn’t have come at a better time for Kher who’s celebrating his career's silver jubilee, and held a premiere of his debut film ‘Saraansh’ on Sunday in the Metro theatre in Mumbai, where the film was first screened.

“I am extremely happy. This is the best gift for completing 25 years of my acting career. It could not have come at a better time,” Kher told a news agency from Mumbai.


Allen’s movie is a multi-starrer with actors like Anthony Hopkins, Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts, Antonio Banderas and Freida Pinto .

Speaking about how he clinched the role, Kher said: “My international agent had sent my tapes to Allen's office and the director seems to have liked them. I have been confirmed for the role.”

Kher also revealed a bit about his role, saying “Woody Allen is a master of his art. I am playing Freida's father in the film.”

Highly respected in Indian cinema, Kher has worked in as many as 380 films including international projects with Gurinder Chaddha and Ang Lee.
