Can Akshay Kumar break the 'January jinx'?

With the exception of few films, most of the movies that have released in the month of January in the last decade have had to bite the box office dust. Akki himself has had his share of January flops like Talaash , Khakee and Family - Ties Of Blood .

Even Nikhil Advani - the director of Chandni Chowk To China - had to face failure when he released his last film Salaam-e-Ishq in January two years back.


So now, as Akshay and Nikhil have been trotting the globe for the international premieres of 'Chandni Chowk To China', which is set for release this Friday, the film's producers Rohan Sippy and Warner Bros. are not a wee bit worried.

Numerologist Neeraj Mancchanda, however, fears that the film may not perform as expected at the box office.

But Rohan Sippy is not perturbed by such predictions of doom.

"There is no merit in these things. Nothing can prevent a good film from a successful run. I hope that people will like the film as we have put in a lot of hard work and positive energy in making it," Sippy is quoted as saying.

With Akshay at the helm of 'Chandni Chowk' and Deepika Padukone playing double role, Rohan is pretty confident of the film's box office prospects.

The movie tells the story of a chef who is mistaken as the reincarnation of a warrior and is taken to China to fight an evil gangster. The film is an out-and-out comedy.
