Chitrangada plays a socialite Chandramukhi

Titled Aur Devdas , the movie has Shiney Ahuja playing the modern-day Devdas while Lara Dutta plays Paro. The film is a political thriller set in the backdrop of modern Rajasthan, where Devdas is an aspiring politician in the film while Paro is the member of the opposition party.

But what about Chandramukhi, a very complex character of the story?


"I am 'Chandramukhi' in the film. My character 'Chandra' is a socialite, who is ambitious, selfish, shrewd and beautiful. She doesn't hesitate in using her sensuality to get whatever she wants," Chitrangada is quoted by a news agency.

Speaking about the contrasting qualities of her character, Chitrangada added: "What I love about Chandra is the two extremes that her character has. On one hand, she is very materialistic and ambitious but she falls helplessly in love with Dev, who is a complete opposite to what she is."

Incidentally, director Sudhir Mishra was unhappy that Chitrangada chose to end her sabbatical with Onir’s film Sorry Bhai but not his movie.

"Yes, Sudhir was slightly upset over it but it has been sorted out,” says the Delhi beauty.

Guess all’s well that ends well.
