John Abraham in anti-smoking campaign

Initiated by health minister Ambumani Ramadoss, the campaign is aimed at promoting no smoking among today’s youth.

The health minister has even roped in Indian cricket skipper MS Dhoni for the campaign. The enthusiast minister tells a news daily: “The entire cricket team wants to take part in the anti-tobacco campaign,” adding that sport personalities like Sachin Tendulkar were also on his wishlist.


Now, Dhoni and John will do an advertisement together and many other stars will also join in. It’s likely that we can see Bipasha Basu teaming up with her beau in the campaign.

The ad is yet to be shot and will go on air soon, followed by a bigger, better and successful campaign.

Aiming to target the campaign at youths, the Health Ministry wants to get young players like Leander Paes, Viswanathan Anand and Abhinav Bindra. Females like ace shuttler Saina Nehwal and Indian Tennis queen Sania Mirza are also being considered for the campaign.

Ramadoss says he wants to see “the entire youth fraternity saying that smoking is bad.”

The minister acknowledges that the campaign is “big and ambitious” and will therefore take time to materialize.
